Parts of the state will start to come alive, however there are high chances that snow will still be lingering in higher elevations until late spring/ early summer. If you're looking to enjoy areas such as Grand Junction, Pueblo or Colorado Springs- Spring is a great time to visit as temperatures are ften warming up in these areas!

Spring (May- June)

If you closed your ideas and dreamed of a winter wonderland for your elopement, Colorado is going to be the destination for you! The mountains capped with snow and ice standing tall above a layer of snow are truly breathtaking! A lot of places in Colorado don't get moisture (which leads to heavy snow) until the first couple of months of the year, so snow lingering until the summer months is common, especially in southern Colorado.

Winter (November- April)

Colorado has a track record of being surreal during the fall months! If you truly want to experience those fiery autumn colors, Colorado is the place to be! Keep in mind the timeframe for the vibrant fall clors is very narrow, so timing is key! In the mountains, you can find fall colors glowing in late September. The foothills tend to peak in early October. Higher elevations may see snow in late fall, so have a backup plan in place if needed!

Fall (September- October)

If you're looking to enjoy longer days, warmer temperatures, wildflowers, and higher elevations- summer is the perfect time to elope in Colorado! Like many other scenic places, Colorado gets a lot of tourists in the summer time. Keep in mind that July through mid-September is the wet season in Colorado.

Summer (June- August)

When choosing your destination and date for your elopement there are several factors to consider- such as tourism, weather, and scenery. Each season brings something unique to the table, and there are pros and cons to eloping in Colorado during every season!

The Best Time to Elope in Colorado:

If you're looking to obtain your marriage license in the state of Colorado, here's what you need to know and what you will need to bring when picking up your license:

  • Both parties must present in person a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state-issued ID, passport, military ID, or Tribal/BIA card.
  • There is no waiting period to pick up your marriage license.

A marriage license in Colorado costs $30. Colorado also recogonizes self-solemnization, which means you din't need an officiant or witnesses to sign your marriage license.

FAQ ABOUT ELOPING in Colorado

"Do I need a permit to elope in Colorado?"

"Do I need a permit to elope in Colorado?"

Some locations, such as national parks and state parks, typically require a special use permit or a wedding ceremony permit when you are having a ceremony within the park. Some parks only require a permit if the wedding/ elopement will have over a certain number of people within your group. If you are just enjoying the park and having photos done, you may not need a permit for your elopement, but a photo/ film permit may be necessary for your photographer or videographer.
Be sure to check each location's regulations and requirements to ensure your elopement day goes as smooth as possible!
If you book your elopement experience with us, we will help you with all of the logistics and legalities of your elopement day!

"How much does it cost to elope in Colorado?"

"How much does it cost to elope in Colorado?"

You can elope in Colorado for as little as your marriage license! A marriage license in Colorado costs $30. If you're visiting national or state parks you may need to pay an entry fee. We typically find that our couples spend anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000+ depending on what they have planned for their experience! Keep in mind that this also includes airefare, lodging for several nights, rental car, wedding attire, vendors, activities and more!
Choosing to elope doesn't necessarily mean choosing the cheaper option (though it definitely can be,) it just means you are investing into an experience that is worth the money! Think about it, you're basically having your dream vacation AND marrying your best friend!
