Higher elevations will still have snow lingering, however spring in most of Montana is coming back to life! Rivers are rushing, wildflowers are blooming in May, and temperatures are rising! This is a great time of year to enjoy the beauty of Montana without a lot of tourists, meaning more privacy during your elopement! Montana in the spring can be very unpredictable, as there are high chances of rain and even snow, so being flexible is crucial.
Spring (March- May)
Winter in Montana is perfect for those who enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling! Winters in Montana can be very cold, however, often seeing temperatures below zero. December and January are the coldest and snowiest months of the year.
Winter (December- March)
Fall in Montana is truly surreal, as the beautiful landscapes are covered with shades of red, orange, and yellow! Temperatures will get rather cold by the end of September, however the scenery is truly worth braving the cold! There is a potential for early snow and freezes, so have a backup plan just in case!
Fall (September- November)
Summer time in Montana is absolutely gorgeous, and warmer temperatures means it's agreat time to enjoy outdoor recreational activities! Tourism can be high in a lot of areas though, like Glacier National Park, so be prepared to tough some crowds depending on where you elope.

The Best Time to Elope in Montana:
- Both parties must present in person a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state-issued ID, passport, military ID, or Tribal/BIA card.
- There is a no waiting period.
- Montana requires two witnesses and an officiant to sign the marriage license.
